WHAT IS SNATCH-RAG FOOTBALL?
SFL: Snatch-Rag Football League
Going back to the 1950's there was a game of football known as "Snatch Rag". The game was played at local parks (organized and unorganized) neighborhoods (in the streets and vacant lots) and schools. Some of our most famous athletes today grew up playing this game. The object of the game? One Piece of cloth was used (just a rag, piece of cloth or even a sock) but only one. The rag was placed in back of the players pants/shorts, with about 5 to 7 inches of the rag hanging out. Now, the object of the game was as the runner carried the ball, defenders had to reach around him/her and snatch the rag out. The runner had to either out run defenders or as defenders were about to snatch the rag, the runner had to use his/her athleticism to spin, cut, or do whatever it took to avoid the rag being snatched. Again, many great ex-NFL players played this game, the skill they attained playing this game as kids, propelled then into the next level of play, making them great at the next level.
This type of play made players better, stronger, faster, more elusive and more creative. These were the athletes from yesterday. Today we know Snatch-Rag Football as Flag Football. Flag Football is fun, but it doesn't bring or offer what Snatch-Rag does.
Snatch-Rag Football is more competitive and fun than Flag Football, it trains us as we play, making us better athletes, making us do things we didn't know or even think we had the ability to do.
Well, for all of you who never had the opportunity to play Snatch-Rag.................IT'S BACK!
SO IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW............NOW YOU KNOW!
THE LEAGUE IS COMING TO YOUR AREA SOON.
